RPI’s translational research initiatives and platforms seek to “translate” the discoveries and knowledge from early-stage, fundamental research into real-world solutions that positively impact society and “Change the World.”

RPI is making ground-breaking investments in people, platforms, and capabilities both on our Troy, NY campus for multidisciplinary research, at Lake George, NY for fresh water and ecological research, and in our NYC Development Labs, specifically focused on precision medicine and the built environment. The NYC labs, together with the Rensselaer Technology Park, form RPI’s distributed Applied Research Institute, which enables co-location for university – industry collaborations and serves as a paradigm shift toward major, non-traditional research activities.
