Industry Engagement Program: Liaison to Institute Wide Engagements

  • What? RPI’s Institute-wide membership program for corporate and industry partners.
  • How? The IEP serves as liaison or “concierge” between RPI and industry to foster multi-faceted relationships; Our team guides you through all RPI portfolios to ensure your company is exposed to the many offerings at RPI. 
  • Why? The IEP team will ensure that you have a multi-faceted relationship with RPI thus increasing your company’s R&D productivity, bolstering your talent acquisition pipelines and workforce development needs, and enabling you to pursue grant funding and engage in collaborations and consortia with local, regional, and global impact.  

Institute Wide Engagements

Research Collaborations

Conduct research with RPI, collaboratively pursue externally sponsored research, join RPI research centers, partner in consortia, or engage in other fundamental or applied research activities.

Faculty Access and Insight

Access the University’s faculty and gain insight into their research through meetings and/or visits between University faculty and Company representatives. Faculty access includes meetings, seminars, talks, Company visits to campus, faculty visits to a Company location, or faculty exchanges/industry sabbaticals.

Student Engagement

Interact with RPI students for undergraduate and/or graduate research, talent acquisition (recruiting, hiring, career fairs), internships, fellowships, student capstone projects, and sponsorship of activities at student clubs and organizations. 

Educational Initiatives

Participate in educational initiatives to include course sponsorship, guest lectures, and support for scholarships and fellowships. Members can also explore continuing & professional education opportunities for their employees, including certificates and credit-bearing coursework offered through Rensselaer@Work

Use of University Labs and Facilities

Utilize RPI’s world-class labs and facilities (under pre-negotiated Facility Use Agreements) including research facilities at our Troy, N.Y. campus, Lake George, N.Y., RPI Technology Park, and New York City Development Labs in Manhattan and Brooklyn. 

Sponsorships, Forums and Philanthropy

Sponsor and/or participate in RPI forums, events, programming, and community activities focused on research, education, STEM pipelines, workforce development, DEI efforts, and charitable or philanthropic efforts.

Intellectual Property/Tech Licensing

License technology from our Office of Intellectual Property and Tech Licensing. IEP members can get an “early view” of the portfolio of cutting-edge intellectual property developed by leaders across many technology areas and disciplines. 

Innovation Ecosystem

IEP members are encouraged to engage with RPI’s world-class innovation ecosystem. Members can gain early access to RPI technologies, participate in startup and incubation activities, and provide mentorship and other support to early-stage ventures created by RPI faculty, students, and researchers. 

Industry Day

RPI and the IEP member Company can collaborate to hold an “Industry Day” which may include technology and research presentations, breakouts, student poster sessions, facilities/lab tours, and identification of next steps and activities to be pursued under Company’s IEP membership.
